about

At the end of March we were let loose in Lancaster Priory with a handheld recorder, practising for our performance there. A real privilege.

lyrics

We were overtaken by a sleight of hand.
Some annotated pictures of the promised land
With flashing lights and numbers I don’t understand
But it might be.

Later we made happiness and slept all day.
I don’t remember needing many words to say.
But fear of tomorrow seemed to fall away
So it might be.

No sign of heaven when the lights went out
But I’ve made this better day.
Hope I can spend some more with you.
We were laid together when the lights went out
And I made this better day.
Life carries on past caring
But I’ll end it there with you.

Deep in the city there’s a tree of songs
The birds all gather to be swept along.
A storm of voices growing ever strong.
But I’m not afraid.

Miles from morning in the twist of night
It's hard to remember having felt the light.
But you're here beside me so the wrong turns right
And I'm not afraid.
